Pulmonary Wellness Program

Most of us know that our lifestyles could use some improvement in areas such as diet, physical activity and stress management/resilience. Making those changes in a way that lasts years or decodes is the challenge that we will take on together.

Using a simple Fitbit or Apple watch and the MiHealth app, we will be able to monitor and encourage your progress.

Our coaches will help you focus on your wellness as you make incremental changes in your lifestyle until old habits are broken and new, healthier habits are formed.

How does the program work?

You will sign up to become part of the MiHealth Pulmonary Wellness Program under the direction of Dr. Kirk Voelker. Although Dr. Voelker is triple board certified in Internal Medicine/Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine, he will not be taking the place of your primary care doctor or pulmonary doctor. Dr. Voelker will focus on your overall wellness through lifestyle modification.

You will have an initial telehealth consultation with Dr. Voelker at which time you will receive an exercise and wellness prescription.

Next, you will set up your technology by downloading the MiHealth app and connecting to your Fitbit or Apple Watch. For many pulmonary patients, a pulse oximeter is helpful in monitoring their cardiopulmonary status.

You will then begin the 12 week education and coaching phase which include:

Group educational shared medical appointments twice a month led by Dr. Voelker and a respiratory therapist via Zoom.

Daily monitoring of activity and cardiopulmonary response using Fitbit/iWatch.

Periodic "check-ins" from our monitoring team throughout the week to help keep you on track.

Educational content and videos through the MiHealth app.

Optional nutrition logging using the MiHealth app, reviewed by our health coach or nutritionist.

Friendly competition with other participants through the MiHealth app and website leaderboard.
